A Task Completed

The steps at the Holbrook Dock were completed last week. Charlie and Amanda filled them back in with new gravel, and we think they look good, but more importantly, will be safe for the next couple seasons at least.

We started with the demo of bad timbers. Then cut all the new work to size, plus cut and added rebar for stability. We also added some construction adhesive between old and new timbers. This helps with added stability as well as helping keep moisture out. All the rebar was inserted into holes drilled into the bottom of new timbers before setting in place. We did not drill all the way through so there is no way for water to work its way in from the top of timber like the original methods. Holes were drilled in the existing old timbers to set rebar into and hold new timber in place.

The process didn't take as long as expected and went quite smoothly.

A job well done, Ron Corl!
