First Hike of 2026
January 1st is always the first hike of the year at Holbrook Island Sanctuary. Even though the cold wind may blow and the snow encircle the hikers, a good time is always had by all!
This year was cold and snowy, but with the right type of clothing and the fire burning at the campsite, hikers stayed toasty, or at least warm enough to stay.
We have had some snow fall during the past few weeks, so there were snow piles to play on.
Charlie, our fearless leader, took the group on the hike.
The littlest, best helper, Sage, made sure things were running smoothly.
…and maybe a bit tired.
A good time was had by all!
